On Sunday, 30th June, family and friends came together for an afternoon of wine, art and great food, as part of National Care Home Open Day. They were also joined by The Mayor of Northampton, Cllr Naz Choudary, and a representative from Northampton Association for the Blind (NAB).
The artwork was displayed in and around the Home for guests to enjoy ahead of the auction. The event kicked off with a live singer before handing the mic over to auctioneer, Nick. After an hour long of intense bidding wars, the auction raised £430, with all the proceeds going to NAB.
Debbie Davis, Head of Wellbeing, said: “There has been so much excitement leading up to the event and we are ecstatic to have raised £430 for such an amazing cause! Having the Mayor of Northampton join us really made it special and everyone had such a lovely time.
“I’m proud of my team and would like to thank everyone who helped out on the day, and especially our current and former residents for their beautiful artwork.”
This year’s theme for National Care Home Open Day was all about celebrating the role of Arts in Care, focusing on friendship, making connections and celebrating older and vulnerable people.
